HÀ NỘI — Model Trịnh Bảo, 24, won the top prize at Mr International on February 24, 2019, in Manila, the Philippines.
He is the second Vietnamese representative to win the contest. In 2008, model Tiến Đoàn won the title.
Francesco Piscitelli from Venezuela and Waikin Kwan from Hong Kong took the first and second runner-up titles.
The 13th contest of its kind gathered 40 male representatives from all over the world.
The final results coincided with what experts had guessed on the Missology website before the final round.
Bảo stands 1.85m, 80kg in weight. He was born and grew up in the northern coastal city of Hải Phòng.
He settled in HCM City, where he works as a professional model.
Before moving to HCM City, Bảo was a fitness trainer in Hải Phòng. He won bronze medal at the Vietnam Supermodel 2018 contest.
On the Facebook page of the contest, Bảo was said to “love beach soccer and swimming.”
“With a background in music and drama, he hopes to pursue a career in acting, and eventually business. He describes himself as funny and friendly but also confident and brave.”
“It was a surprising victory,” he said shortly after receiving the title. “Right now, I just want to say ‘thank-you’ to the audience in my homeland and international fans, who have supported me for the past few months.”
The contest was first organised in 2006, one among three contests for men. The other two include Manhunt International and Mister Tourism World. — VNS
