Ninh Thuận targets 2.3 million visitors in 2019

The central coastal province of Ninh Thuận this year aims to attract 2.35 million visitors, including 100,000 foreigners, and expand its luxury and ecotourism accommodations.

NINH THUẬN – The central coastal province of Ninh Thuận this year aims to attract 2.35 million visitors, including 100,000 foreigners, and expand its luxury and ecotourism offerings.

It also aims to achieve total revenue of VNĐ1.15 trillion (US$49.4 million) from tourism services. 

Lê Văn Bình, deputy chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the steering committee for the province’s tourism development, said: “To reach the goal, we are improving state management of tourism, ensuring social order and safety, service quality at tourism attractions, and training human resources.”

The province will also continue to promote its tourism attractions abroad.

Ninh Thuận is calling for investment in luxury resorts along Bình Tiên, Vĩnh Hy and Ninh Chữ beaches, extreme sports activities on sandy hills in Ninh Phước and Thuận Nam districts, and ecotourism, sports tourism and cultural tourism in Ninh Sơn and Bác Ái districts.

It is encouraging investors to pour money into sea, urban and agricultural eco-tourism in Phan Rang – Tháp Chàm City.

“We will offer special land rental prices, preferential taxes and streamlined procedures to investors,” Bình said.

The province has granted investment certificates for 50 tourism projects with total capital of VNĐ17.548 trillion (US$756 million).

Of these, 19 projects are operating while construction on 12 projects is underway.

Bình said the province had encouraged local tourism agencies to work with Tây Nguyên (Central Highlands) provinces, Nha Trang, Đà Lạt, Bình Thuận Province, HCM City, and southern provinces to offer more tours.

These include the Chúa Mountain National Park, Bình Sơn-Ninh Chữ Beach, Thái An Grape Village, Pô Klong Garai Tower, Bàu Trúc pottery village and Mỹ Nghiệp brocade weaving village.

Extreme sports on sandy hills and beaches, as well as homestay services, are the provinces’ signature tourism products.

In 2018, Ninh Thuận welcomed 2.19 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 15.3 per cent.

Tourism turnover reached VNĐ1.05 trillion ($45 million), a year-on-year increase of 18.9 per cent.

The province has 145 accommodation facilities with a total of 3,100 rooms. – VNS
