BÌNH PHƯỚC — The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bình Phước has announced a Government decision recognising the ancient Lộc Hòa Lithophone as a national treasure.

The lithophone, found by a local farmer named Bùi Hữu Triệu in 1996, becomes the first national treasure of the province. He had found 26 pieces of an ancient musical instrument lying next to each other while digging in his garden in Lộc Hoa Commune, Lộc Ninh District.

Since it was found, the lithophone has been studied at home and abroad, and experts believe it was created by ancient people more than 3,000 years ago.

The lithophone would be displayed to the public, according to Phạm Hưu Hiền, deputy director of the Bình Phước Province Museum. — VNS
