ĐÀ NẴNG — More than 800 artists from 17 professional art troupes nationwide will compete in the National Music and Dance Competition at the central city’s Trưng Vương Theatre on August 24-31.
Deputy director of the city’s Culture and Sports department, Nguyễn Thị Hội An said the annual festival will draw the participation of professional artists from Hà Nội, HCM City, Đà Nẵng and art troupes from the army and public security department.
She said the festival is an opportunity for artists to show off their talents in singing, playing instruments and dancing in the biggest competition of the year.
According to the Agency for Performing Arts, under the ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, each art troupe will offer one performance of between 80 and 110 minutes during the week-long competition.
Awards will be given to the best director, art director, orchestra conductor, composer, choreographer, painter, costume designer, as well as medals to the best art troupe.
The organising committee will also present a special prize for the best performers and art programme during the competition.
Art troupes will offer free performances for local residents in Hòa Vang, Liên Chiểu and Ngũ Hành Sơn districts.
The opening ceremony will be staged at the Trưng Vương Theatre on August 21.
Đà Nẵng has been designed as a prominent tourism and event site in Việt Nam.
It successfully hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) in 2017. — VNS
