HÀ NỘI — The capital city has had three national intangible heritage icons recognised.
The icons are the swimming festival in Đăm Village in Từ Liêm District, the spring festival in Trường Lâm communal house, Long Biên District, and Mountain God Worship in Ba Vì District.
They belong to a list of 17 national intangible heritage icons in areas such as the northern province of Bắc Kạn, Hà Giang, Lào Cai, Lạng Sơn, Sơn La, Thái Nguyên, Vĩnh Phúc and the southern city of Cần Thơ.
These include lễ cấp sắc (maturity ritual) and the pattern decoration in the costume of the red Dao ethnic group in Bắc Kạn Province; the spring festival in Bình Thủy communal house of Cần Thơ City; folk music of the Bố Y ethnic group in Hà Giang Province; and the lồng tồng ritual (go-to-the-field ritual) and the silver carving of the red Dao ethnic group as well as the drum in the ceremonial rituals of the Mông ethnic group in Lào Cai Province.
There are currently 248 national heritage icons recognised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Việt Nam. — VNS
