HCM CITY — The 10th HCM City Book Expo will open at Lê Văn Tám Park in District 3 in March.
Organised by the city’s Book Distribution Company (FAHASA) in co-operation with the Department of Culture and Sports, the event will feature 350,000 titles, including hundreds of new books for children and teenagers, at 1,000 stalls.
The books will be sold at discounts of up to 40 per cent.
The week-long event is expected to attract some 100 international and Vietnamese publishers, distributors and other companies.
Dozens of foreign names, such as Oxford University Press, Cambridge, Macmillan, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Hachette, Kinokuniya, Cornelson, Kletz and Heuber, will also be featured.
Among the popular titles on display will be children’s books from the Kim Đồng Publishing House, one of the country’s leading publishers for children.
“We will set up nine stalls offering copyright deals to serve local and foreign publishers and distributors,” said Phạm Minh Thuận, general director of the FAHASA, deputy head of the event’s organising board.
This year, the organiser will open a reading place of several hundred children’s books for young readers. Many books will be given away as gifts for children on the festival’s opening and closing days.
Famous writers will be invited to participate and sign for readers during the even, while seminars and forums on reading will also be featured.
