HCM CITY — HCM City’s Youth Union and Youth Cultural House have instituted a free music programme on Nguyễn Huệ Pedestrian Street to mark the 72nd anniversary of National Day on September 2.

The programme, called Tuổi Xanh Tôi Hát (Voice of Youth), will include three outdoor shows to entertain residents and visitors.

The first show will open on August 30 night featuring veteran and young singers and dancers from leading art troupes in HCM City and southern provinces.

The artists will perform with the support of several hundred students from local universities and colleges.

Revolutionary songs, composed by veteran musicians such as Phan Huỳnh Điểu, Hoàng Việt and Phạm Tuyên, will be highlighted.

The second show on September 2 will see pop stars and young singers like Đàm Vĩnh Hưng, Vũ Cát Tường, Hương Tràm and pop bands like Uni5, Mắt Ngọc and Sgirl.

Meritorious Artist Tạ Minh Tâm of the HCM City Music Conservatory and singers Thanh Thúy and Vân Khánh of the Seven Military Zone Art Troupe will also be featured.

The show, Thành Phố Tôi Yêu (HCM City - I Love You), will debut on September 3 at the city’s Youth Cultural House on Phạm Ngọc Thạch Street, before more than 5,000 students and young labourers.

It will include music and song performances and fashion shows staged by young members of the house’s art clubs.

“We will perform songs in praise of love, friendship, family and country,” said young singer Thu Thủy of the house’s Folk Music Club.

Thủy and her colleagues will also stage a show for nearly 10,000 labourers at export processing zones and industrial parks in the districts of Thủ Đức, Bình Chánh and Tân Bình during the holiday. — VNS
