We were desperately searching for a respite from the scorching hot weather that the capital city experienced a week or so ago when a friend suggested the Rooftop.

Can’t go wrong with that name, we thought, imagining a beautifully landscaped garden and outdoor furniture under a starry sky.

On both counts, we had to tick the NO box, but we also felt comfortable as soon as we entered the bar on the 19^th floor of the Pacific Place on Lý Thường Kiệt Street.

The elegant interiors and ambience of the lounge and restaurant, with soft, romantic music playing made it easy to relax immediately.

The relaxation deepened as a waiter brought us each a cocktail made with red wine and fresh fruits. The sangria was expertly made and delicious.

My friend commented that this would among the perfect places in the city to enjoy the sunset as well as cooling sights of the Hồng River and the West Lake.

Nodding in emphatic agreement, Bùi Quang Tú, manager of Rooftop, said the luxurious, modern and romantic space made it an ideal rendezvous for young people, partners and family gatherings.

“We are always focused on providing top notch service to our customers, and we have leading Asian and European chefs serve very tasty, aromatic dishes,” he said.

We struck up a conversation with Justine Kane from Virginia. He said he could not have experienced one of the most beautiful nighs in Hà Nội if he didn’t come to the Rooftop.

“I like the bar because we feel very relaxed, enjoying food and drink, including cocktails. Listening to the bartender tell stories about the cocktails is a bonus attraction. I am also impressed with the live music performed by excellent DJs,” Kane said.

He said it would be very difficult to find a similar place in Hà Nội with beautiful views of the capital, high-grade cocktails and authentic food.

It is not a surprise that Rooftop has great reviews on the world’s leading travel website, TripAdvisor.

“Amazing food and atmosphere- the staff were helpful and can speak English very well. Margaritas were great! Best view to accept a marriage proposal!!” a foreign visitor raved.

Recently, CNNGo also chose the Rooftop as a place a visitor should not fail to visit to fully enjoy Hà Nội.
