HÀ NỘI — Funds raised by the Ấm Tình Nghệ Sỹ (Artist’s Affection) art show reached VNĐ500 million (over $22,000), according to the show’s organisers.
Jointly organised by the theatre artists’ club, Việt Nam Stage Artists’ Association and Đông Đô Company, the event aims to raise funds to support and pay tribute to veteran Vietnamese artists, who have made significant contributions to the development of the nation’s theatre, but suffer economic or other hardship.
Opening the show, the organisation department presented gifts to artists with difficulties, such as those who had accidents while acting, including people’s artists Trần Tiến, Đàm Liên, Linh Dược, and Ngô Tuyết Hoàn.
Under the direction of artist Nguyễn Việt Thanh, Ấm Tình Nghệ Sỹ is a night show featuring the figures of the artists reappearing in extracts of chèo (traditional operetta), cải lương (reformed theatre), comedies set to modern songs.
According to Vương Duy Biên, deputy minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ấm Tình Nghệ Sỹ creates opportunities for the artists to get close to each other and for the audience to understand them. — VNS
