HÀ NỘI — More than 30 documentary films by European and Vietnamese directors will be screened at the 8th European-Vietnamese Film Festival in Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City between June 9 and June 18.
This is an annual event, which has been hosted by the European Union National Institute for Culture since 2009, to promote better understanding between the people of Việt Nam and Europe.
Held in collaboration with National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio and Hoa Sen University, the festival showcases the best contemporary documentary movies covering a diverse range of themes.
Each night between June 9 and June 18 in Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy one Vietnamese documentary film followed by an European film.
Some Vietnamese movies in the festival have been produced by the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio and have gained many prestigious prizes, while others are professional works by Vietnamese television channels.
Many of the European films have also won critical acclaim, and include winners of the Oscars, and the César and Berlin festivals.
Twenty-one documentary films made by independent filmmakers will also be featured in a separate session of the 8th European-Vietnamese Film Festival. — VNS
