HCMCITY— A traditional music and song programme featuring áo dài (Vietnamese traditional dress) will be held at HCM City’s Gem Centre to close the Áo Dài Festival 2017 tonight.

The show Áo Dài Việt- Hội Tụ Và Thăng Hoa (Vietnamese Áo Dài – Convergence of Beauty and Sublimation) will attract 50 dancers from the Arabesque troupe and foreign students dressed in áo dài from the latest collections of talented fashion designers.

Famous theatre artists and pop stars such as Miss Việt Nam 2016 Đỗ Mỹ Linh will also be featured.

The organiser, HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, invited representatives of consulates in HCM City to join a gala dinner after the show. The guests will be in áo dài gifted by the city government.

This year, the festival’s theme Áo Dài- Tôi Yêu Việt Nam (Áo Dài - I Love Việt Nam) honours and promotes traditional cultural values as well as the beauty and grace of the áo dài, which has become the symbol of feminine beauty in Việt Nam.

The 14-day event included many cultural activities, exhibitions, fashion shows and design contests related to the áo dài, featuring dozens of garment and textile companies and fashion houses.

It attracted nearly 50,000 foreign and local visitors.— VNS
