HỘI AN — Hội An will host a ‘Korean Cultural Day’ with a series of activities from March 11-12, the ancient city’s Sport and Culture centre annouced on Thursday.
The event, a collaboration organised by the Republic of Korea embassy in Việt Nam and the central people’s committee, will include lantern installation from Korea and Hội An, lantern skills demonstrations, cultural performances and cuisine.
Craftsmen from Korea and Hội An will jointly set up lanterns at An Hội round-abouts, while lantern skills exhibits will take place at An Hội Sculpture Park on the Hoài River bank from morning to 10pm.
Korean artists will perform traditional art at 9 Nguyễn Thái Học street from noon to evening.
Contemporary art troupes Sachoom and Bibap from Korea will stage at An Hội Sculpture Park from 4.30pm to 18.30pm on two days.
Food courts will introduce favourite foods of Korea and Hội An to local residents and tourists during the two-day event at An Hội Sculpture Park.
The event will mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Việt Nam and Korea.
Tourists will also enjoy a lantern lighting day during the Full-Moon of the 14th lunar month and the release of candle-lit paper flowers in the Hoài River at night.
The UNESCO-recognised world heritage city hosted 2.6 million tourists, including 1.3 million foreigners, last year. — VNS
