AN GIANG - On the occasion of the 2024 Chôl Chnăm Thmây traditional New Year, An Giang Province has given 500 gifts to poor Khmer people.

The Standing Committee of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front in An Giang Province collaborated with Lộc Trời Group Joint Stock Company and the Việt Nam Cambodia Business Association to present the gifts to ethnic Khmer people in Tri Tôn district.

The event was attended by chairman of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee in An Giang Province Nguyễn Tiếc Hùng, first secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia Nguyễn Thế Khánh, representatives of the Việt Nam - Cambodia Business Association, Lộc Trời Group Joint Stock Company and local leaders of Tri Tôn district.

It was held at Svay Ta Hong Pagoda in Ninh Lợi hamlet in An Tức commune and Kom Plưng Pagoda in Phước An hamlet in Ô Lâm commune.

Each gift, valued at VNĐ600,000, included 10 kilos of rice and VNĐ300,000 in cash.

The funding was provided by Lộc Trời Group Joint Stock Company and the Việt Nam - Cambodia Business Association, along with partners and individuals, contributing to bringing warmth and encouragement to the people as they celebrate the 2024 Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year.

According to Oknha Leng Rithy, chairman of the Việt Nam - Cambodia Business Association, the gift-giving activity demonstrates solidarity with the people in the difficult areas of An Giang Province, especially in ethnic Khmer communities.

Oknha Leng Rithy extended his best wishes to the Khmer people in Tri Tôn district and An Giang Province as a whole, hoping for abundant joy, peace, and happiness during the 2024 Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year.

Phạm Tuấn Khải, secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ô Lâm commune, on behalf of Lộc Trời Group Joint Stock Company and the Standing Committee of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front in An Giang Province, expressed the desire for the continued development of the "beautiful neighbouring, traditional friendship, comprehensive, and sustainable cooperation" between Việt Nam and Cambodia, as well as the Việt Nam - Cambodia Business Association with An Giang Province. - VNS
