HCM CITY - The Vietnam Phở Festival 2023 is going international, and it has chosen Japan as its first destination.

To introduce and promote Vietnamese culinary culture to the world, the Organising Committee of "Phở Day 12-12" has decided to take this event abroad through the Vietnam Phở Festival 2023, held at Keyaki Namiki, Tokyo, Japan.

This was announced by Tuổi Trẻ (Youth) Newspaper, Saigontourist Group, and the Việt Nam-Japan Friendship Association of HCM City on September 28.

The Vietnam Phở Festival 2023, themed "Harmonious Flavors: Enjoying and Exploring Vietnamese Culinary Culture," will take place on October 7-8, 2023.

This event marks a significant milestone as the "Phở Day 12-12" event enters its seventh year, with the participation of numerous Phở brands from all regions of Viet Nam, including Phở Dậu, Bà Bán Phở Hai Thiền, Phở Phú Gia, Phở ‘S, Phở Sen SASCO, Phở Ta - Bình Tây Food, Phở Thìn Bờ Hồ, Phở from Majestic Saigon Hotel, Phở from Grand Saigon Hotel, and Phở from Golf Thủ Đức Club (VGCC), among others.

In addition to directly introducing the flavors of Phở, the Vietnam Phở Festival 2023 will also organise various promotional activities such as Phở cake decoration demonstrations, a discussion about the love for Vietnamese Phở, a creative contest for the Japanese to make Phở, exhibitions, and video screenings providing information and history about Phở.

Culinary expert Matsuo Tomoyuki, President of the Việt Nam-Japan Culinary Culture Association, will be the ambassador of Vietnam Phở Festival 2023. He will personally introduce Phở dishes and demonstrate how to make Phở.

Lê Thế Chữ, Editor-in-Chief of Tuổi Trẻ Newspaper and Co-Head of the Vietnam Phở Festival 2023 Steering Committee, stressed the importance of promoting and enhancing the cultural and culinary values of Việt Nam and how they connect with other cultures and cuisines.

Phở can help contribute to the promotion of Việt Nam’s cultural images, economic potential, and tourism, both nationally and specifically in HCM City, Chữ said.

Phạm Huy Bình, Chairman of the Saigontourist Group’s Council, and Co-Head of the Vietnam Phở Festival 2023 Steering Committee, mentioned that this is the first time the festival is organised on such a large scale in the land of cherry blossoms, and Saigontourist Group wants to add its flavor to the rich melody of Vietnamese Phở.

The firm is committed to promoting Vietnamese cultural and culinary heritage worldwide, creating attractions to invite more Japanese tourists to Việt Nam through the Vietnam Phở Festival 2023.

The Vietnam Phở Festival 2023 is expected to take place in the context of celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Việt Nam and Japan, making it a practical activity to promote exchanges and cultural ties as well as economic relations between the two countries. - VNS
