HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Plant Protection Department and the An Giang provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has piloted an app that helps identify rice pests and diseases.
It is the first technology adopted in Việt Nam to enhance the management of pests and the use of plant protection substances on crops and rice. It uses artificial intelligence (AI) and online interaction between experts and users.
After piloting first in the southern province of An Giang to collect farmer feedback and improve the accuracy of the AI, the app will be put into use nationwide, said deputy head of the Plant Protection Department Huỳnh Tấn Đạt.
Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Trương Kiến Thọ said the move was expected to help farmers join the digital transformation revolution in agriculture, bringing them a smart farming process at affordable cost and looking toward a transparent, responsible and sustainable agriculture. — VNS
