HÀ NỘI — About 36,600 flights took off from and arrived in Việt Nam in October, marking an increase of 12.6 per cent compared with the same period last year, reported the Civil Aviation Authority of Việt Nam (CAAV).

More than 8.3 million passengers were reported to have travelled by air during the month, up 5.3 per cent. Meanwhile about 131,000 tonnes of goods were carried through airlines, up 8.6 per cent.

More than 3.9 million passengers and 37,000 tonnes of goods were transported by the domestic airlines, 3.9 per cent and 38.6 per cent higher than the same period last year, respectively.

In the January-October period, a total of 87.4 million passengers used aviation services for travelling in the first 10 months of this year, marking an increase of 11 per cent compared with the same period last year, according to CAAV.

Meanwhile, airline cargo shipments reached 999,000 tonnes in the period, up 6.9 per cent.

According to director of CAAV Đinh Việt Thắng, the number of passengers through the airport system in the country is expected to exceed 100 million for the first time this year, reaching 105 million visitors.

In 2017, 94 million passengers travelled by air, a year-on-year increase of 16 per cent. — VNS
