HÀ NỘI – The Việt Nam Glass and Ceramics for Construction Corporation (Viglacera) opened a factory that will produce the first made-in-Việt Nam energy-efficient glass in the southern Bình Dương Province yesterday.
The hi-tech glass project, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, is capable of manufacturing five million sqm of glass annually.
The factory will have two phases. In the first phase, a production line with an annual capacity of producing 2.3 million sqm of glass will be based at Tân Đông Hiệp Industrial Park in Dĩ An Town. The company will build another facility in the northern Bắc Ninh Province with a designed capacity of producing 2.3 million to 2.7 million sqm of glass per year during the second phase.
The project uses technology and equipment provided by Von Ardenne GmBH from Germany, the world’s leading manufacturer of industrial equipment for vacuum coatings on materials such as glass, wafers, metal strips and polymer films.
Viglacera’s energy-efficient glass can save up to 45 per cent of the electricity consumed by air-conditioners and protect human health by blocking 99 per cent of the sun’s ultraviolet rays.
On the same day, the corporation also began the construction of a high-class porcelain factory at Mỹ Xuân A Industrial Park in Tân Thanh District in the southern Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province, with a total investment of VNĐ481 billion (US$21.56 million).
The facility, with a designed capacity of producing 750,000 products a year, is expected to become operational in the next nine months. - VNS
