BẮC NINH — The Bắc Ninh municipal People’s Committee recently held a dialogue with Korean businesses and investors in a move to expand connection and promote investment.

Vice Chairman of the Bắc Ninh People’s Committee Phạm Văn Thịnh said the Republic Korea (RoK)  is one of the city’s important and special partners, with the business community making significant contributions to the city’s development, particularly Korean enterprises.

RoK businesses have contributed not only investment capital, jobs and exports, but also technology transfer, modern management practices and the development of networks of supporting enterprises, he said.

The dialogue served not only as an opportunity for talks but also as an investment promotion event. The Bắc Ninh administration sought to provide greater clarity on the city’s new position, strengths, development orientations and priority areas for investment, while listening to businesses’ difficulties, proposals and plans to expand their investments.

Hoàng Quang Phòng, vice chairman of the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), said the RoK has become an important part of Bắc Ninh’s economic ecosystem.

As of August 31, 2026, Bắc Ninh had 3,695 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects with total registered capital of approximately US$51.56 billion after adjustments.

Korean investors accounted for around 1,165 projects with total registered capital of $16.7 billion, ranking first among investors from 47 countries and territories in terms of investment capital in Bắc Ninh.

Behind these figures are major companies that have become deeply involved in the city’s industrialisation, including Samsung Display, Samsung Electronics Vietnam, Amkor, Hana Micron Vina and many other Korean enterprises.

These companies have contributed to the development of an ecosystem in Bắc Ninh covering electronics, telecommunications, semiconductors, components and supporting industries, while contributing to exports, employment, budget revenues and the city’s industrial management capacity.

Ko Tae Yeon, chairman of the Korea Chamber of Business in Việt Nam (Kocham), expressed his belief that Bắc Ninh’s transition into a city marks an important milestone in its transformation from a major manufacturing hub in the northern region into a leading international economic city focused on high technology and innovation.

He vowed that Kocham will not only serve as an investor but also play the role of a responsible partner in building and developing Bắc Ninh, contributing to expanding cooperation between both sides.

To achieve this goal, the city needs to provide active attention and support in areas including taxation, customs, fire prevention and fighting safety and human resources, he said.
