HCM CITY — The latest innovations, technologies, and solutions in the livestock sector are on display at Việt Nam’s Premier International Feed, Livestock and Meat Industry Show, Vietstock 2025, which opened on Wednesday in HCM City.
Vietstock 2025 has brought together 300 exhibitors and 13,000 trade visitors from 40 countries and territories.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phùng Đức Tiến said agriculture plays a pivotal role and remains a cornerstone of Việt Nam’s economy.
Việt Nam’s agricultural sector continues to record impressive achievements this year, Tiến said.
This year’s total output is expected to reach 43.5 - 44 million tonnes of rice, 8.5 million tonnes of meat, 21 billion eggs, and 9.6 million tonnes of aquatic products, he said.
In the first nine months of this year, exports of livestock products reached US$447 million, up 18.6 per cent year-on-year, and are expected to exceed US$600 million by the end of the year.
During the period, animal feed exports alone reached US$1.5 billion, he said.
The deputy minister emphasised that science, technology and innovation are the foundation to improve productivity, quality and competitiveness of Việt Nam’s livestock industry in the global value chain.
Vietstock serves as a forum for knowledge sharing, experience exchange, and signing cooperation agreements between domestic and foreign enterprises, he said.
Ben Wong, general manager of Informa Markets Vietnam, the event’s organiser, said: “Now in its 13th edition, Vietstock 2025 continues to serve as the leading stage for innovation and collaboration in Việt Nam and across the ASEAN region.”
Within the framework of the event, seven ASEAN countries will meet to discuss industry developments, opportunities, and challenges at the Asean Livestock Associations Round Table, Wong said.
Hosted by the Department of Animal Health and Production and in coordination with more than 50 livestock associations, the event will feature more than 80 knowledge sessions focusing on antimicrobial resistance, swine, poultry, ruminants and dairy, waste-to-value, nutrition and feed, animal health, animal welfare, egg value chain, and livestock emission control, he said.
