HCM CITY — The national carrier Vietnam Airlines will operate nearly 2,900 flights with 600,000 seats from August 29 to September 3 for the National Day holiday, over 100,000 more seats than last year.
Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines offer tickets for flights from August 30 to September 3 in economy class starting at VNĐ2.2 million/one-way (US$83.5) on the HCM City–Hà Nội route.
Most fares range from VNĐ2.2 million to VNĐ2.8 million, depending on flight time, lower than VNĐ2.7–3.7 million in early August.
Vietjet offers one-way tickets from VNĐ2.2 million for passengers flying from southern provinces to Hà Nội for National Day.
Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines apply similar prices, giving passengers more choices in peak season.
Lê Nam, a passenger in HCM City told Người Lao Động (Labourer) Newspaper that he bought a business trip ticket to Hà Nội for VNĐ2 million, cheaper than his friends who booked two weeks earlier.
According to airlines, prices are dropping because the number of flights has increased dramatically.
For the domestic market, Vietnam Airlines is providing about 418,000 seats, up 30 per cent from last year, focusing on key routes such as Hà Nội – HCM City, Hà Nội – Đà Nẵng, and flights to Cam Ranh, Đà Lạt and Huế.
In addition, Vietjet is adding nearly 10,000 seats, equal to 50 flights during the four-day celebration.
These extra flights are spread across busy domestic tourist routes such as HCM City – Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng, Nha Trang, Phú Quốc and Huế. — VNS
