HCM CITY — The second International Trade Fair for the Pet Industry in Việt Nam has opened in HCM City, spotlighting the latest technologies, products and services on offer for pet care.

There are more than 250 exhibitors from 20 countries and territories, including South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, and China, with a wide range of pet nutrition, healthcare, grooming, and other products.

There will be a number of expert-led seminars on topics such as pet nutrition, health, training, and welfare with veterinarians and specialists from the Vietnam Animal Welfare Association, the Vietnam Small Animal Veterinary Association and international organisations taking part.

Organised by Minh Vi Exhibition and Advertising Services Co Ltd, the exhibition will also host interactive and competitive events like the Wondergrooming International Training Programme and the Grooming Art Contest for professionals to demonstrate their grooming skills and creativity.

The "Catshow: Shine Like a Meow" will feature contests for both pedigree and non-pedigree cats that will be judged by international experts.

Specialised exhibition zones include the vet care area, pet sourcing hub, pet startup showcase, and the pet retail & e-commerce zone.

A VIP Buyer Programme will facilitate direct interactions between manufacturers, agents and retailers to strengthen supply chains and drive the industry’s growth.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Lê Quang Thông, president of the Vietnam Small Animal Veterinary Association, said the pet industry grew at 14.3 per cent a year between 2018 to 2023, an encouraging trend for businesses, professionals and institutions in the field.

Nguyễn Bá Vinh, director of Minh Vi, said Petfair Vietnam serves as a vital B2B platform for the development of the pet product market and supply chains.

The event opens doors to new markets, expands international partnerships and introduces cutting-edge products and innovations, he added.

The exhibition, which opened on June 25 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre, will go on for three days and attract over 12,000 professional visitors and pet enthusiasts from Việt Nam and abroad. — VNS
