Huế City, Murano Group promote co-operation programmes

THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ — Officials from Huế City’s people’s committee and Japan's Murano Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on programmes to promote international cooperation in education, industry, trade, investment and workforce training.
Chairman of the central city Võ Lê Nhật noted that the MoU is included as part of the friendship ties and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Việt Nam and Japan.
He said the MoU aims to promote a closer relationship between Japanese partners and Huế City to boost investment and trade activities among Japanese businesses and local enterprises in the years to come.
Huế City, the capital of Thừa Thiên-Huế Province, has called for investment in the new An Vân Dương Urban Zone, the Chân Mây-Lăng Cô Economic Zone, key industrial parks and the Tam Giang-Cầu Hai Lagoon and wetland systems.
General director of Murano Group Murano Koji confirmed that a series of activities and exchange programmes would be organised to promote cooperation on both sides in the near future.
Huế City also hosted a working visit for the Vietnamese Business Association in Japan to seek investment opportunities and build partnerships.
Japan's Kyoto Environment Activities Association has offered a plan to develop an eco-centre at the city’s Children’s Palace to support and improve volunteer training in environmental education programmes.
The province's leadership called for investment from Japan in the locality in the areas of tourism, trade, services and high-tech industries.
Last month, Aeon Mall Việt Nam introduced its first trading centre, Aeon Mall Huế, with an investment of US$170 million in the new urban area of An Vân Dương.
In 2023, Kyoto Prefecture in Japan and the central Vietnamese province also marked the 10th anniversary of a friendship deal between the two localities.
The Embassy of Japan in Việt Nam and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have presented six electric trucks to the Huế City People's Committee to use for waste collection, helping the green transformation and reducing carbon and methane emissions in the transport sector.
