HCM CITY — In response to the devastating impact of Typhoon Yagi and the subsequent floods affecting Việt Nam’s northern provinces and cities, Vietjet is mobilising its resources and calling for employees to provide urgent relief to those in need.

On September 10, Vietjet’s management board called on the airline’s staff to donate to support communities affected by the natural disasters. In a remarkable show of solidarity, up to 8,000 Vietjet employees have come together to contribute and share the hardships of families who have suffered losses and damages.

Vietjet CEO Đinh Việt Phương said: “All of us at Vietjet would like to extend our sincere encouragement to those suffering from the aftermath of the typhoon and floods. We believe people will quickly overcome difficulties with solidarity and community support and stabilise their lives.”

As part of its commitment to disaster relief, Vietjet will also contribute VNĐ5,000 (US$0.2) from each ticket sold from now until September 30 to aid in the recovery efforts. This initiative is expected to raise around VNĐ5 billion ($202,900) from ticket sales alone.

Additionally, Vietjet has taken immediate action by allocating VNĐ2 billion to purchase essential supplies, including food, clean water, and medicine, to help affected communities overcome the immediate challenges and begin the recovery process.

Vietjet said it will also transport relief goods free of charge from both domestic and international donors to the typhoon-affected regions from now until September 20.

Every Vietjet employee is committed to contributing in anyway possible to help families who suffer damages and lost their beloved after the devastating disasters, deeply reflecting the spirit of mutual support and the Vietnamese traditional value of “The intact leaves protect the tattered ones", while also demonstrating Vietjet's social responsibility. — VNS
