National Assembly Deputy, former VCCI chairman Vũ Tiến Lộc dies at 64

Vũ Tiến Lộc, a National Assembly Deputy and former Chairman of the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), passed away on Monday at the age of 64, a source from VCCI said.

HÀ NỘI — Vũ Tiến Lộc, a National Assembly Deputy, Chairman of the Việt Nam International Arbitration Centre and former Chairman of the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) passed away on Monday at the age of 64, a source from VCCI said.

Lôc came from the northern province of Thái Bình’s Thái Thuỵ District. He held a Ph.D in international economics and advanced degree in political theory.

At the time of his death, Lộc was Chairman of the Việt Nam International Arbitration Centre. He was also a member of the National Assembly from the 11th to 15th terms and also a member of the National Assembly’s Economic Committee.

He led VCCI for 18 years from 2003 to 2021, during which time he had left significant impact on the development of the business community in Việt Nam.

Lộc was among those who advocated for Việt Nam Entrepreneurs’ Day designated on October 13.

He also promoted the recognition of business households and supports small- and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups.

VCCI was the organisation behind the Provincial Competitiveness Index and the Corporate Sustainability Index.

Lộc often chaired a number of forums and policy dialogues between the Government and the business community. He also led the Việt Nam Business Forum for many years. — VNS
