HÀ NỘI — Exports of computers, electronic products and components, and phones and all kinds of components ranked first among the 12 commodity groups with high export value of the country, but export output decreased compared to the previous year.

Total information technology (IT) industry revenue is estimated to reach over VNĐ2.7 quadrillion (about $113.8 billion) in the first 10 months of the year, an increase of 1 per cent over the same period last year.

Revenue from the hardware and electronics industry in the 10 months is estimated to reach nearly VNĐ2.55 quadrillion, about $106 billion, a growth of 0.6 per cent over the same period last year.

The export value of hardware and electronic products is estimated to reach nearly $96.8 billion, down 4 per cent year-on-year, accounting for about 31 per cent of the country's export value.

Data from the General Department of Customs show that the export value of computers and components is estimated to reach over $47 billion by the end of last month, down 1.6 per cent year-on-year.

The export value of phones and phone components is estimated to reach over $44.2 billion, down 9 per cent over the same period last year.

Last year's statistics show that ICT industry revenue will reach about $148 billion, growing 8.7 per cent compared to 2021.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has just said that the world economy would face many difficulties due to an economic recession in many countries in the first 10 months of this year, with no signs of recovery, and a declining IT consumer market with low growth potential.

This directly affects Việt Nam's export market for goods and services in general and IT products and services in particular. The country's IT export orders have also fallen.

The global economic situation has gradually improved since July this year, helping the export market recover strongly.

Hardware and electronics export turnover in the third quarter increased sharply by 10 per cent over the same period, along with a high USD/VND exchange rate, helping to narrow the decline in accumulated revenue this year compared to the same period last year. — VNS
