QUẢNG NINH — In response to soaring demand, especially during the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday, businesses, cooperatives, and manufacturing facilities in Quảng Ninh Province are proactively ramping up production efforts to spur product consumption.

Bình Liêu arrowroot vermicelli, a speciality in the mountainous district of Bình Liêu district, has become a favourite product among many. Particularly, as the year-end witnesses various commercial promotion activities such as the Flower Festival and One Commune One Product (OCOP) fair, opportunities for arrowroot vermicelli consumption have increased.

Since the winter season, Đình Trung Development Cooperative in Húc Động commune, Bình Liêu district, has been procuring, processing, and preserving raw materials to facilitate vermicelli production. In early November, the cooperative hired local labour, concentrated on machinery, and assigned personnel to serve arrowroot vermicelli production. This year, the cooperative has supplied the market with 15-20 tonnes of vermicelli.

In an article on baoquangninh.vn, La A Chiu, Director of the Đình Trung Development Cooperative, stated that thanks to the support from the province and local authorities, the cooperative's arrowroot vermicelli product is being consumed in numerous restaurants, stores and agencies. Especially during the year-end period, consumption has increased by 20-30 per cent, prompting the cooperative to capitalise on favourable weather conditions to meet the rising demand.

Quảng Ninh Seafood Production and Trading Co Ltd in Vân Đồn district stands out among the few enterprises with stable product consumption, not only in stores, agencies, supermarkets, and e-commerce platforms but also in clean agricultural produce stores in Hà Nội. Apart from processed and ready-to-eat products such as mussel floss, shrimp floss, and clam floss, the company also supplies packaged mussel meat to the markets in Hà Nội.

Emphasising innovation to introduce diverse, eye-catching product designs, Quảng Ninh Seafood Production and Trading Co Ltd proactively plans material supplementation, labour allocation, and machinery concentration to meet the heightened demand during the year-end.

The company’s deputy director Vũ Thị Thanh Hoa said that due to increased shopping demands, the company's product consumption typically rises by 30-40 per cent in the last months of the year. The company has early production plans to ensure goods supply. As production, display, and consumption volumes increase, the company places special emphasis on product quality.

The company consistently adheres strictly to food safety regulations throughout the entire production process. Employing technology in processing with automatic frying machines and automatic sterilisation at 121°C for 45 minutes ensures the preservation of nutritional value.

Besides focusing on production, stable goods supply, and price stabilisation, ensuring food safety and hygiene remains a top priority for enterprises, cooperatives, and manufacturing facilities in Quảng Ninh Province.

Phạm Hoài Nam, Deputy Director of Quang Hanh Union Mineral Water Enterprise in Cẩm Phả City, stated that mineral water is a popular item, especially during the Lunar New Year. To preserve the brand, affirm credibility, and ensure quality, the company consistently partners with reputable material suppliers, invests in production line improvements, and prioritises training to enhance skills for workers.

The active efforts of businesses, cooperatives, and manufacturers are vital in securing goods, stabilsing the market, and increasing consumption as the year-end, especially during the upcoming Lunar New Year, approaches. Yet, in addition to these efforts, departments and local authorities must also improve management, strengthen control, and take comprehensive actions against smuggling, commercial fraud, and the production of substandard goods.

According to the General Statistics Office, in November, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue were around VNĐ552.7 trillion (US$23 billion), up by 1.4 per cent from the previous month and 10.1 per cent from the same period last year. For the first 11 months of 2023, the total retail sales are expected to reach VNĐ5.7 quadrillion, showing a 9.6 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. — VNS
