HÀ NỘI — Vietjet has been recognised as one of the 1,000 biggest tax payers in Việt Nam in 2017, following a list announced by the Ministry of Finance’s General Department of Taxation last week in the capital.

This recognition resulted from Vietjet’s business performance in 2017. Accordingly, the airline recorded revenue of over VNĐ42.3 trillion (US$1.86 billion) and pre-tax profit of nearly VNĐ5.1 trillion ($224 million), increases of 54 per cent and 73 per cent respectively, compared to the previous period.

During the year, the company contributed VNĐ4.2 trillion to the State budget, including direct and indirect taxes, charges and fees.

“After six years of operation, Vietjet is proud to be recognised as a top corporate income taxpayer to the Government for the second time. We look forward to further supporting the development and integration of our home economy in the coming years," Nguyễn Đức Tâm, Vietjet vice president said.

The General Department of Taxation’s data reveals that accumulative corporate income tax by companies in the list reaches VNĐ111 trillion, account for 63 per cent of total tax contribution.

The processing and manufacturing sector continued to top the list of biggest tax payers, accounting for 36 per cent of total tax payment among the 1,000 companies. It was followed by the finance, banking and insurance industry with 14.8 per cent; and telecommunications with 9.3 per cent. — VNS
