HÀ NỘI — Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lê Thị Thu Hằng answered reporters’ question regarding the US’s recent policy adjustment towards Cuba, saying the country should lift its embargo of Cuba.

“Việt Nam objects to any unilateral embargoes that a country imposes on another country,” she said yesterday.

Hằng added Việt Nam wants Cuba and the US to resolve disagreements through negotiation in the spirit of respecting each other’s independence and sovereignty and looking towards full normalisation of bilateral relations, for the interests of the two countries’ people, thereby contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, co-operation and development in the world.

“Việt Nam calls on the US to lift its embargo against Cuba which has been enforced for more than five decades,” the spokesperson noted. — VNS
