Haitian Senate leader begins official visit to Việt Nam

The Senate President of Haiti, Youri Latortue, arrived in Hà Nội on Saturday, beginning a six-day official visit to Việt Nam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân.

HÀ NỘI — The Senate President of Haiti, Youri Latortue, arrived in Hà Nội on Saturday, beginning a six-day official visit to Việt Nam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân. 

He is accompanied by his wife, First Secretary of the Senate Dieudonne Luma Étienne, Chairman of the Senate’s Culture and Tourism Committee Jacques Sauveur Jean, and Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Communication, Nawoon Marcellus.

This is the first time the Senate of the Republic of Haiti has sent a high-ranking delegation to Việt Nam to boost co-operation with the Vietnamese legislature.

Việt Nam and Haiti set up diplomatic ties in 1997.
