HÀ TĨNH —  The Natural Resources and Environment Department in central province of Hà Tĩnh has asked two companies to install automatic monitoring equipment for testing emissions and the dust of emission discharge systems.

According to the department head, Trần Hữu Khanh, Hưng Nghiệp Formosa Steel Ltd. Co and Vũng Áng Thermal Power Plant I were selected for this task.

The equipment will automatically transmit data every hour to the department’s control centre, Khanh said.

The department’s officials will check the discharge system for the concerned units if the data show the permitted levels have been crossed.

The department will soon install software that monitors vehicles transporting solid waste in the Vũng Áng Economic Zone to tighten the processes of collection and transportation of this waste.

Both units completed their survey for the installment and are preparing procedures to invite domestic and foreign contractors to supply the equipment, a department official said.

Earlier, an automatic monitoring system to monitor the wastewater at Formosa Steel Company was put into operation.

Both the steel company and thermal power plant are located in Vũng Áng Economic Zone in Kỳ Anh Township. —  VNS
