The flag tower at the Huế Imperial Citadel will be lit up at night and cannons fired to entertain tourists and residents, according to Nguyễn Dũng, deputy chairman of the Thừa Thiên-Huế Province People’s Committee.

About 1,000 LED bulbs will be installed in the tower to light up Ngọ Môn (Noon Gate) Square and surrounding areas at night.

The firing of the cannons will reprise scenes from the time of the Nguyễn dynasty (1802 – 1945).

The provincial administration also plans to beautify Đông Ba Market at night. A pedestrians-only street will take shape in late November next to the Hương (Perfume) River with funding from the Korea International Co-operation Agency.

Trường Tiền Bridge is also being upgraded and will become off-limits to vehicles during weekend nights, forming a grid with other walking-only streets next to the Hương River. — VNS
