The Việt Nam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei is actively coordinating with officials from China’s Taiwan to carry out search and rescue activities and provide information on Vietnamese workers trapped in a fire in Taiwan on December 14.

The Philippines’ navy has handed over a Vietnamese sailor to the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines. The sailor was recently rescued from the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf by the host country’s military.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Monday that a Vietnamese crewman of the Royal 16 cargo ship attacked and captured by pirates in southern Philippines in November 2016 was rescued by Philippine government.  

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wednesday afternoon confirmed that a Vietnamese citizen was killed following the Philippines government’s strikes against the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the murder of two Vietnamese citizens by the terrorist Abu Sayyaf group, Deputy Minister Vũ Hồng Nam stated in his interview granted to the press. 

The Royal 16, a Vietnamese cargo ship with 19 crewmen on board, was attacked and captured by pirates on Friday while sailing in the sea off the Basilan Island, the Philippines, according to the Việt Nam Maritime Administration (VNMA).
