HCM CITY — More than 1,500 students from primary, secondary and high schools in HCM City are taking part in the fourth Phù Đổng Sports Tournament for the Vovinam Nestlé MILO Cup that opened at the Phú Thọ Stadium in District 11 on March 27.
The tournament, which will run until March 31, features 83 combat and demonstration events for both girls and boys.
Nguyễn Bình Định, general secretary of the HCM City Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo Federation, said, “We are proud that Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo is becoming closer to the community and attracting many young people and students.
The performance of the students has improved each year, he said.
Ali Abbas, director of MILO and dairy products, Nestlé Vietnam, said every sport that children learn would bring them valuable lessons in determination, perseverance and passion to overcome challenges and become a champion.
Organised by the Departments of Culture and Sports, and Education and Training, the federation and Nestlé MILO, the competition this year also marks the 83rd anniversary of Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo.
The HCM City Phù Đổng Sports Festival is one of the major activities in the ‘Active Vietnam’ programme organised by Nestlé MILO to encourage a dynamic lifestyle and physical activity in the community, especially among children. — VNS
