HÀ NỘI — The nation’s longest-running marathon, the Tiền Phong Newspaper Marathon, will be postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
The 61-year-old event, which was scheduled for March 22 in Quảng Ngãi Province’s Lý Sơn Island, will now move to July 15.
Organisers will help athletes transfer bookings to attend the new event. More info can be found on the official fanpage of the tournament facebook.com/tienphongmarathon.
Tiền Phong Marathon is the latest event to be delayed because of this deadly epidemic. Twelve other tournaments have been changed.
They include Spartan Race Vietnam in HCM City, Wow Marathon Phú Quốc in Kiên Giang Province, Dalat Ultra Trail in Lâm Đồng Province and Mekong Delta Marathon in Hậu Giang Province.
International events have been affected by the epidemic.
Organisers of the 19th Asian Junior Athletics Championships 2020 have just announced that the May 14-17 competition at the Suphachailasai National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, is cancelled.
The Asian 20km Race Walking Championship 2020 faced the same fate. The tournament was planned for March 15 in Nomi, Japan. — VNS
