HÀ NỘI — More than 80 martial artists from Japan, Algeria, Iraq, Sudan and Egypt took part in the Ambassador Cup International Festival of Vovinam (Vietnamese Martial Arts) in Egypt over the weekend.
Participants competed in the combat and performance events in the various weight categories and age groups.
It is the first time an international vovinam event has been held in Egypt.
The event was jointly organised by the Egypt Vovinam Federation, Egypt Ministry of Youth and Sports, Africa Vovinam Federation and Sharm El-Sheikh City.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt, Trần Thành Công is the sponsor for the event.
“The event aimed to introduce vovinam to international friends as well as Vietnamese cultural features. Besides, it strengthened the solidarity and co-operation among nations,” said Công. — VNS
