HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Vũ Tín scored the only goal of the game to help Hà Nội retain the National U21 Championship trophy on Sunday in Pleiku City.

Tín netted at the 68th minute in match Hà Nội dominated against Phố Hiến FC.

It was the third time that two sides have met this season. In the previous games, Hà Nội also won.

It was Hà Nội's fifth U21 title.

After the tournament, the Việt Nam Football Federation appointed coach Dương Hồng Sơn of Hà Nội, a former goalkeeper with Việt Nam as head coach of the national squad who will compete at the coming International U21 Championship in Đà Nẵng.

Hà Nội also contributed 10 players in the list of 24. Others come from Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh, Đồng Tháp, Viettel and Phố Hiến.

Sơn was in goal for Việt Nam's first AFF Cup silverware in 2008 where he was voted MVP of the tournament.

He also pocketed V.League title twice with Hà Nội FC in 2010 and 2013.

There are only two keepers in Việt Nam having won the Golden Ball statue as the best player of season. Sơn is one of them as he was honoured in 2008.

The U21 four-team tournament is scheduled between October 30-November 5 at the Hòa Xuân Stadium.

Việt Nam will face South Korean Han Yang University after the opening ceremony on October 30.

Their next match is against FK Sarajevo from Bosnia on November 1 and a Japanese team two days later.
