HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Anh Khôi and Phạm Lê Thảo Nguyên triumphed in the National Chess Championship in the northern province of Bắc Giang on Thursday.

Khôi of HCM City, who was the No 2 seed, earned eight points after nine games to win the men’s standard chess category.

While on the women’s side, Nguyên of Cần Thơ defeated Nguyễn Thị Thanh An of HCM City in the last match to win the title.

Today, participants will compete in blitz and rapid chess. The event attracted the participation of more than 200 players and coaches from 18 teams across the country.
