Việt Nam win 72 medals at ASEAN Taekwondo Championship

Vietnamese martial artists have brought home 72 medals at the ongoing ASEAN Taekwondo Championship held at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, the Philippines.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese martial artists have brought home 72 medals from the ongoing ASEAN Taekwondo Championships held in Pasay City, the Philippines.

 

In the poomsae (performance) events, Việt Nam won six golds, six silvers and 16 bronzes. In the kyorugi (free sparring), Việt Nam won 12 golds, 10 silvers and 22 bronzes.

The tournament attracted fighters from Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, Brunei, and Singapore.

Việt Nam sent 154 athletes to the event competing in three divisions – senior, junior and cadet.

The event is a warm-up for teams to prepare for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games to be held in the Philippines later this year. — VNS
