HÀ NỘI — Bình Điền Long An defended their women’s title at the National Volleyball Championship in Buôn Ma Thuột City in the Central Highlands province of Đắk Lắk on Thursday.

Bình Điền Long An defeated LienVietPostBank 3-2 in the final.

Long An dominated the first set and won 25-12, then took the next set with a score of 25-22. However, LienVietPostBank fought back strongly to win the third set, 25-21.

The win spurred on LienVietPostBank. They held effective counter attacks to win the fourth set with the score of 25-23.

In the decisive final set, LienVietPostBank’s key player Nguyễn Linh Chi was forced to leave the game with an injury. They still fought hard, but they lost by a score of 13-15.

Bình Điền Long An’s captain Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Hoa contributed a great performance to her team’s victory, scoring the most points at the event. She played for Bangkok Glass VC, a Thai professional volleyball club, from 2014-17. With the Thai club, she played at the 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, finishing in the seventh place.

Meanwhile, the men’s team title will be decided late tonight as HCM City face Thể Công in the final.

Eight men’s teams and eight women’s teams have competed for the championship in a round robin format, with top two men’s and women’s teams qualifying for the final. — VNS
