Việt Nam lose to South Korea at AFC U19 Champs

Việt Nam’s U19 football team were defeated by top team South Korea 1-3 during their last game at the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship final in Indonesia.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s U19 football team were defeated by top team South Korea 1-3 on Thursday during their last game at the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship final in Indonesia.  

After two previous losses to Jordan and Australia, Việt Nam hoped to go home with one win from the AFC Championship, but their efforts were denied.

In the first half, South Korea threatened Việt Nam’s net with three consecutive shots, but failed to score. Just five minutes later, Xuân Tú scored the opening goal.

Sustaining an injury, goalkeeper Tùng Lâm was switched by Y Eli Nie.

In the 32nd minute, South Korea were awarded a penalty, and managed to close the gap to 1-1.

The second half started with Eli Nie saving a shot by South Korea.

In the 77th minute, Bá Sang made a defensive error, allowing South Korea to double their score to 2-1.

With one more goal in the 90th minute, South Korea emerged victorious.

The win earned South Korea a clear chance at the championship. — VNS
