The National Chess Tourney 2018 was launched yesterday in Northern Bắc Giang Province.

HÀ NỘI — The National Chess Tournnament  2018 was launched yesterday in Northern Bắc Giang Province.

Fifty of the best players selected from domestic and international compeitions from 11 cities and provinces including Hà Nội, Hồ Chí Minh City, Bắc Giang, Bến Tre, Đồng Nai, Đà Nẵng, Thái Nguyên, Bình Định, Hải Phòng, Lâm Đồng and an Army team will compete this year.

Big names of domestic chess circle including Cao Sang of Lâm Đồng, Nguyễn Đức Hòa of Army, Hoàng Cảnh Huấn of Đà Nẵng will take part.

Players compete in two events: standard chess and blitz chess.  

A speaker of the organising board said this year there is strong competitors and promised a thrilling and exciting opening round.

“The competition helps evaluate the expertise of players, so we can add up the force to national team, and prepare for international tourneys in 2019," the speaker said.

The tournament runs until August 26. — VNS
