HCM City — Around 100 athletes from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Việt Nam, Hong Kong and Taipei are competing at the 32nd Open Golden Racket Int’l Table Tennis Tournament 2018 that got started today (July 4) at HCM City’s Nguyễn Du Gymnasium.
Last year’s women’s champion, 20-year-old Panarang Orawan of Thailand, is back to retain her crowns in both the singles and doubles.
This year, Hong Kong has sent four male and six female athletes to the event, including Jiang Tianyi (world ranking 63) and Mak Tze Wing (123).
Việt Nam’s team includes Nguyễn Anh Tú, Nguyễn Thị Nga, Dinh Quang Linh, Mai Hoàng Mỹ Trang, Đoàn Bá Tuấn Anh, Nguyễn Đức Tuân, Vũ Thị Hà and Đinh Thị Huệ.
The men’s and women’s doubles start today and will end on Friday, while the men’s and women’s singles kick off on Thursday.
In the men’s doubles content, Thailand, Việt Nam Army, HCM City B meet in group A; Hong Kong, Japan, Hải Dương, Hà Nội B in group B; Indonesia, Boram South Korea, HCM City A in group C; and Hà Nội A, Hsinchu Taiwan, Sunsport Singapore in group D.
In the women’s doubles, Thailand, Hà Nội, South Korea A compete in group A; Petrosetco HCM City, Changhua Taipei, Vĩnh Long, Hong Kong A in group B; Hong Kong B, Indonesia, HCM City, Hải Dương in C; and Japan, South Korea A, New Taipei, Việt Nam Army in D.
