HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam triumphed in the Tây Ninh tennis tournament open, Hải Đăng Cup, on January 14.
The 20-year-old player defeated veteran Trịnh Linh Giang 7-6, 6-1 in the finals of the men’s singles to take the title.
In the men’s doubles, Nam and Vinh Hải Đăng beat duo Giang and Bùi Trí Nguyên 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.
The seven-day event atttacted the participation of eight leading players of the country including Nam, Phạm Minh Tuấn, Đỗ Minh Quân and Vũ Artem.
Early this month, Nam made it to the semi-finals of the Hong Kong F6 Futures tennis tournament.
As planned, Nam, who won the boys doubles trophy at the Wimbledon championships with partner Sumit Nagal, an Indian, in 2015, will take part in the Japan Men’s Futures tennis tournament after the Tết holiday (Vietnamese Lunar New Year). — VNS
