Dũng, Lê win HCM City marathon race

Vietnamese Ngô Dũng won the men’s professional 42km category, with a time of 2hr 42min at HCM City’s International Marathon, Taiwan Excellence, yesterday.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese Ngô Dũng won the men’s professional 42km category, with a time of 2hr 42min at HCM City’s International Marathon, Taiwan Excellence, yesterday.

Pha Lê took the women’s title, winning in 3:8.00.

Phúc Cao claimed the top podium in the men’s 21km, while it was Phương Nguyễn winning the women’s pool.

In amateur events, Japanese Kimura Mitsunobu won in the men’s class, while Kenyan Naum Jepkosgei topped the women’s discipline.

Organisers also presented awards to winners of the men’s and women’s 5km and 10km races.

The fifth marathon saw the largest ever number of participants with more than 8,000, a sharp increase compared to the first race in 2013, which lured 5,000 runners.

The tournament has been recognised as one of official events of the Việt Nam Athletics Federation. — VNS
