Vietnamese tennis players shine at Asian U14 tournament

HÀ NỘI — Võ Quốc Uy of Việt Nam had an easy win at the International Tennis Federation Asia U14 and U Development Championships, Division 2, in HCM City yesterday.

Uy trounced Maramatsho Ayombekev of Tajikistan 6-1, 6-1 to enter the semi-finals in the boys’ category.

His teammate, Đinh Viết Tuấn Minh, defeated No.4 seed, H. Kumar, from Pakistan 6-4, 6-4.

On the girls’ side, Lê Thảo Hân won 6-1, 6-1 against Jarin Jolly of Bangladesh to enter the quarter-final.

Nguyễn Minh Thuý Hằng beat Mongolian Y. Ganbaatar 6-2, 7-6(8), while Huỳnh Trần Ngọc Nhi defeated Shraboni Biswas from Bangladesh 6-4, 6-0.

“Việt Nam has some talented players in this tournament, such as Uy and Thiên Quang, who are giving impressive performances. These players will receive strong support to improve their level in the future,” said Kiều Mỹ, President of HCM City Tennis Federation.

The tournament will end on January 19. — VNS
