HÀ NỘI — The National Best Tennis Players Tournament will run from December 17-22 in the central province of Nghệ An, the event’s organisers announced yesterday.
Participants will take part in the men’s and women’s singles and doubles.
The winner in the men’s singles category will receive a prize of VNĐ50 million (US$2,170), while the female winner will get VNĐ40 million ($1,740), making the event’s highest ever total prize fund.
“This prize money will improve the competition among players and help increase the event’s quality. Besides, it also helps professional players continue with their careers via the income from tournaments,” said chairman of Việt Nam Tennis Federation, Nguyễn Quốc Kỳ.
The event’s best players will be selected for the national team to compete in the Davis Cup, Fed Cup and Asian Games next year. — VNS
