HÀ NỘI — This year’s international Golden Paddle table tennis tournament promises many surprises, according to organisers.

The annual tournament, held in HCM City from July 15 to July 18, will see participants from India, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan who it is believed will make the event more interesting in its 31st edition.

National team members of Thailand and Việt Nam will also compete under their local clubs’ jerseys as it is the last chance for them to warm-up before the Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia in August.

Organisers said there were 86 athletes of six nations registered for the Golden Paddle titles.

They will compete in men’s and women’s individual and team categories.

Last year Petrosetco HCM City topped among the women’s team. A team from South Korea won the men’s team title. Hong Kong’s Ng Wing Nam took the women’s individual event and Chinese Qi Jia Wei was crowned the winner in the men’s discipline. — VNS
