HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thị Luyến of Việt Nam won a gold medal at the Singapore Senior Fencing Championships’ women’s epee individual event on April 30.

Luyến defeated Harlene Raguin of the Philipines 15-14 in the final match at the OCBC Arena, Fencing National Training Centre.

Rebecca Ong and Sihan Yu of the hosts shared the third position.

In the men’s foil individual, Singapore’s Kevin Jerrold Chan took a gold medal. His teammate Jet Ng came in second, and the bronze medal went to Vietnamese Nguyễn Minh Quang and Nathaniel Perez of the Philippines.

The last gold medal of the two-day event belonged to Pornsawan Ngernrungruangroj of Thailand. The silver and bronze medals were awarded to Singapore fencers.

Việt Nam won three gold medals, two silver and one bronze medal, ranking atop the annual championship. Singapore is second with two gold medals, followed by Thailand with one. — VNS
