Việt Nam lose in Junior Davis Cup semis

Việt Nam lost 1-2 to Singapore in the semi-finals of the 2017 Junior Davis Cup, Asia Oceania Pre-Qualifying Tournament yesterday, in New Delhi, India.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam lost 1-2 to Singapore in the semi-finals of the 2017 Junior Davis Cup, Asia Oceania Pre-Qualifying Tournament yesterday, in New Delhi, India.

The only win for the team came from Nguyễn Văn Phương who has not lost any singles matches in the competition which was kicked off on Monday.

Phương defeated Robin Cheng 6-3, 6-3 in the second singles match.

Earlier, teammate Võ Hoàng Hùng lost 0-6, 6-4, 3-6 to Ethan Lye.

Cheng and Lye went on to beat Phương and Phạm Đức Phú 7-6 (5), 4-6, 10-4 in the doubles.

Việt Nam will play Lebanon today in the third-placed play-off, while Singapore will meet the Philippines in the final. — VNS
