HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese midfielder Lương Xuân Trường has ended his contract with South Korean Incheon United FC to join Gangwon FC, who will play in the K-League Classic next season.
Trường, a member of the Hoàng Anh Gia Lai FC, joined Incheon United FC on a two-year deal on loan with an estimated transfer fee of US$300,000 last December. He was the first Vietnamese to play in the K-League.
The compensation for the remainder of Trường’s deal with Incheon United will be paid by Gangwon.
Gangwon are now led by Hoàng Anh Gia Lai’s former head coach Choi Yoon-gyun.
A representative of Hoàng Anh Gia Lai, Nguyễn Tấn Anh, said Gangwon pledged to give Trường more time on the pitch.
Trường was called up to the national U-19 team in 2013-2014 season, the U-23 team in 2015 and Việt Nam’s national team in 2016.
In addition to Trường, Gangwon also recruited striker Jung Jo-gook who was selected as the most valuable player of the K-League in 2016. — VNS
